Mini Gastric Bypass
Mini Gastric Bypass (MGB) Procedure
The Mini Gastric Bypass was introduced in 1997 with the goal of duplicating the excellent weight loss results of traditional Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery; while simplifying the procedure, shortening operating time and reducing complications.
The stomach is divided to create two pathways : one consisting of a small gastric pouch connected to the second part of the small intestine through which food passes; the other is the bypassed portion comprising the majority of the stomach and the first 150-200cm of the intestine.
This reduces the size of your stomach, restricting the amount you can eat and also reduces the absorption of food by bypassing a portion of your intestines.
